The first vegan cookbook I ever had was How It All Vegan. This is what seems like centuries ago, so I have no idea why or where I got it. I'm guessing I thought the cover was cool, but had no clue what all that vegan talk meant. This was way before any thoughts of being vegan had entered my head. Anyway, I loved the cookbook and love it's follow-ups, The Garden of Vegan, La Dolce Vegan, and Vegan A G0-Go!This weekend Ms. Kramer's recipes once again added joy and wonder to my day. I have been craving French Toast. I found a recipe in Soy Not Oi, but it called for a block of tofu, and I have been trying to moderate my soy intake just for good measure. It also called for half a loaf of bread! The Soy Not Oi recipes are magnificent for feeding half your neighborhood, but a little overkill when you are just one lady wanting a good breakfast. I went with the recipe in How It All Vegan and was well pleased!
I usually botch pancakes, waffles, and the like, but this French Toast came out so well. It ate it all too! Definitely will be a repeat performance in my kitchen!

Sarah's La Dolce Vegan was my first vegan cookbook!! Breakfast to me is always a treat... that french toast looks fantastic!
You know, I have had this book for over a year, and have never made anything from it? I don't know why, it just doesn't "speak" to me, which is weird because so many other people seem to love it.
i love sarah kramer's books too! don't get me wrong, i love isa's also, but sarah's were the first ones i picked up. i really like the stories at the beginning of the books. i recently sent her an e-mail telling her how much i appreciated her books and how she's helped me want to be a better vegan. guess what? she wrote me back. cool, huh?
