Backstory: I am a good cook, but possess few to no instincts on a "pinch of this, dash of that." Most of my attempts at improv result in a really sad moment of scraping the pan over the garbage can.
But this week, I did it!!! I was craving red beans and rice, so I got work. We had a bunch of different kinds of peas and beans, but not enough of just one. I decided to cook kidney beans, pinto beans, and white beans. I seasoned them with fresh minced garlic, fresh parsley, Tony's chacherie, Zatarain's liquid shrimp/crab boil (yep, vegan!), salt, pepper, and other assorted spices (a little at a time as I am notorious for throwing in one big dash of something or other that can ruin a meal quickly!). I cooked some Alter-Eco Fair Trade red rice and mixed it in. Final step was to saute some veggie sausage sliced into little rounds and mix it it. YUM!!! This stuff was great!! We topped it with some awesome Hurtin' Habanero hot sauce.
Spicy!
