There is nothing better to me than a fresh stack of books to read. Ok...maybe a seat by a window and a plate of cold, crunchy apple slices make it better.... :)
Today I checked out these two from the library.

What I wouldn't give for a coffee date with Alice Walker. She has to be one of my favorite authors. Her books are intense and I have to read them at the right times in my life, but they always astound me. I liked her daughter Rebecca Walker's autobiography Black, White, & Jewish as well. I'd like to read more of her work.

I just finished Eat, Pray, Love, which is Elizabeth Gilbert's story of living a year in Italy, India, and Indonesia. I highly recommend this book. It is equal parts gorgeous food writing, travel guide, and reflective journey. I read that a movie is being made of this book...I'm interested to see how it comes out.

What are you reading?
P.S. Check this out.

I love books too! But right now, I'm stuck in Wicked. I've been reading it for months, and it's good....but slow-moving, so I rarely pick it up and instead opt for a no-brainer cookbook to read.
I'm reading some Amy Tang myself, she is the sister of Pootie Tang. Here's one of my favorite passage:
See, my damie, don't wa-da-tah to the shama cow... 'cause thats a cama cama leepa-chaiii, dig? Cole me down on the panny sty? Baby, I'm going to sine your pitty on the runny kine! Sepatown!
Sa da tay, PixiePine.
I am so addicted to books - it's really a visceral relationship, more than just the reading...the smell, the feel of the crisp pages...sigh.
Eat, Pray, Love is waiting to be read on my shelf - those Walker & Tang books sound great, too.
i read the 100 secret senses in college. i really liked that book. i just started grace eventually: thoughts on faith by anne lamott, and just finished reading chunks of the best non-required reading series, a book by ali liebegott, and a book by michelle tea.
