And on to the food!!
Last week I tried a couple of new recipes. The result was purple sushi and oodles of noodles!
We mixed up some wasabi, got out some pink ginger, poured the soy sauce, and let loose with the chopsticks!
We had a great Asian noodle salad. It started as a Sarah Kramer recipe but morphed, because I hate mushrooms. I replaced them with lots of broccoli and garlic. I used tofu noodles, which I really like, but the man finds toooo chewy! (Pup likes them and managed to jump up and snag one that was dangling over the side of the bowl!)

We also had some sushi. The fillings were avocado, green onion, cucumber, spinach, and asparagus. I used some wild looking purple sticky rice I bought at the health food store. It wasn't as sticky as I would have liked, probably due to being a blend, but it tasted great and looks neat. Someone with some patience and sushi skills could use this rice to create some real stunners for a party or some such!

yum! that purple rice looks really beautiful. I didn't know that those tofu noodles were vegan! that's cool. I"ll have to check them out.
glad to hear that the wedding was a success!!! Congrats!
Glad the wedding went well! And that sushi is lovely. I love that kind of rice. I call it black rice, but it really is kinda purple.
I like those noodles too, but they smell really funny when you open the package. The smell seems to disappear after they're cooked. Weird.
The tofu noodles do stink horribly when you open them! I always microwave or boil them for a minute and the smell dissapates.
I've been seeing the tofu noodles a lot lately. I'm like Amey and didn't realize they were vegan now - yay!
I did a little looking to make sure. Fat Free Vegan posted an update that Tofu Shirataki is now vegan. Yay!!
