The Best Thing I Ever Ate...is fun!!!

Ahhh yum!!! Last night I was bemoaning the absence of my beloved Top Chef, and we found a new show to watch. It's called The Best Thing I Ever Ate and it is funnnn!!!

We watched a BBQ version (kinda ick, as I love BBQ side dishes, but have been veg so long I just don't see meat as food anymore) and a breakfast version (awesome!!). I saw so many dishes I'd love to try, or try to adapt to meet my food needs and wants. Blueberry ricotta pancakes with Vermont maple syrup...gahhhh!!!

My favorite feature on the breakfast show was Jacques Torres' Wicked Hot Chocolate. Oh my word! I loved that movie Chocolat, and remembered from it the magical mixture of spiciness and chocolate. The show explained how Jacques Torres makes and serves the drink, and it was tantalizing.

Giada De Laurentiis has a chocolate mousse recipe based on the drink as well as a ricotta blueberry pancake recipe if you're interested. Wonder if we could veganize, or at least minimize the dairy in these recipes for us lactose-intolerant souls? They look sooooo good!!

I love this show too!!

My fav was that super thin, cracker-like pizza - so delicious ;-)

I've never met a dessert yet that couldn't be veganized. It is awesome to make such delicious dishes cruelty free, isn't it? All those dairy cow mamas and veal calf babies that we don't have to hurt and kill, and we still get all the scrumptious delicious yummy perfection of a great 'cheese'cake or a bowl of ice cream. Now you've got me craving blueberry pancakes!

What is floating in the hot chocolate? At first I thought it was the blueberry pancake... ;)

It's some kind of insane dollop of cream.

I don't have cable (sigh), but I'll have to check that show when I'm visiting my parents again and have access to cable.
