GAHHHH. I was doing great until this week, at which point I freaked out! I have been working on cutting down on coffee, not eating "white" stuff, work is crazy, home is crazy...I somehow exploded from having so many rules!! I've still only bought a few new things (blender, frame, reusable sandwich pouch), and I am enjoying the peacefulness of slowing down and using what I've got instead of rushing out for more. Plus, I have spent much less money due to my committment to less new stuff.
I am proud of my efforts, and I intend to hold on to the habits I've developed thus far, including:
*minimal packaging
*recyclable/reusable packaging
*getting amazing BRAND NEW items at garage sale for change
*using Ebay/Goodwill for nearly-new and awesome clothes
*trading cupcakes for clothes!!
*making my own wrapping materials for gifts
*"shopping" around my house before I buy or aquire something new
Best purchase in the last 45 days: tickets to see Ani DiFranco!!!!!!!!!!!WHOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!

I still haven't bought any new clothes, and I don't see a reason to thus far. House stuff and gifts seem to be a sometimes situation. Onward to more adventures in creative consumption!

totally awesome- I also try to do all the things you mentioned- It is a lifestyle- Etsy has lots of great finds too and can be added to the Goodwill, Ebay (oh and even Craigslist) category.
Congratulations for thrifty fun!! & being so eco!! :)
It's interesting to read about your adventures - and ohh Ani diFranco!! Lucky you!!
I just bought Ani tickets for her Memphis show last night!!! I haven't seen her since 1990-something, so I've re-listening to Not a Pretty Girl all day. I've really got catching up to do with her newer stuff.
Congrats on the compacting! You are doing far better than I would be. I just bought a new Vegan-stamped bowl on Etsy and a hemp travel sleeve for my Glass Dharma straws...neither of which I needed.
ARGH! my heart skipped a beat when I saw that you purchased tickets to Ani. How awesome. You have influenced me greatly and I keep doing a double take lately and thinking whether or not I *do* really need that new expensive thing I can't really afford... the answer is always no. So thank you!
Have fun at the Ani show! She's awesome live.
Thanks for the nice comments ya'll- I get my inspiration from other bloggers. As far as Compacting and related subjects, WalkSlowlyLiveWildly.com is awesome!
And yes, YAY ANI!!!!!!!
I admire you so much girl. Keep it up! And I can't thank you enough for introducing me to Paperbackswap, I'm OBSESSED!
